This latest system from Lordhair is a noticeable step forward from my previous setup, both in how it looks and how it feels. The combination of 30% gray and 80% density hits a sweet spot for a more natural, age-appropriate appearance, especially if you’re not trying to pull off a thick, youthful look that doesn’t match the rest of your hair.
First Impressions & Installation Lessons
Right out of the box, this system feels lighter and more realistic compared to a full-density unit. Before even getting it cut in, I installed it fresh and immediately noticed how much easier it is to manage.
This install also came with a breakthrough in my process. Instead of removing all the backing from the tape at once (which can lead to misalignment, hair getting stuck, or uneven stretching), I tried a more controlled approach:
- Apply all tape to the base, but leave the backing on
- Remove only the front section first and align it perfectly
- Gradually peel and secure the sides and back in stages
This made a huge difference. The system lined up properly, stretched evenly, and avoided the usual mess of hair getting caught in adhesive. It’s a method worth sticking with going forward.
Glue Mistake (And What to Avoid)
One thing that didn’t go perfectly was the lace front application. I went heavier than usual with the glue thinking it might hold better, but that backfired.
- Thick glue does not dry properly
- Leaves visible white areas instead of drying clear
- Even airflow (blow dryer) didn’t fully fix it
The takeaway:
Always use thin layers - 2 to 3 light coats instead of one heavy one.
It’s a small detail, but it makes a big difference in how invisible the hairline looks.

Barber Cut-In & Blending Reality
After installation, I went in for a cut at a local barbershop (Gentlemen's Barbershop in Langley). The goal was to:
- Go shorter and more manageable
- Improve blending with my natural hair
- Reduce that obvious transition between system and bio hair
The challenge right now is simple:
There’s still not a ton of natural hair on the sides to fully blend into. With about six weeks of growth, it limits how seamless things can look.
So for now:
- A slight undercut is still necessary
- But the transition is way less noticeable than before
The lighter density and gray mix really help here. It doesn’t create that harsh contrast you get with thicker, darker systems.
Look, Feel & Daily Wear
This is where this system really stands out.

- Sits better without constantly falling into the eyes

A bit of Moroccan oil was enough to tame it after blow drying, no heavy styling needed.
Even the barber commented that:

Quick Fix for Glue Visibility
Since the glue didn’t fully dry clear in a few spots, I used a simple workaround:
- Applied a skin-tone blending product (like beard filler or concealer)
- Dabbed lightly over the visible areas
Result:
- Practically invisible unless you’re right up close
Not a permanent fix, but it saves you from having to redo the entire front immediately.
Final Thoughts
This Lordhair Neo system is a clear upgrade in terms of realism and usability.
What works well:
- 30% gray = more believable look
- 80% density = lighter, easier to manage
- Better overall blend with existing hair
- More comfortable daily wear
What still takes time:
- Side hair growth for perfect blending
- Refining installation technique (especially glue application)
Overall, this system fits better with a more mature look and lifestyle. It’s not about trying to look 25 again, it’s about looking like a better version of where you’re at now.
