BC Championships - 6 Days Out - Planned Workouts & Snacks

I am officially under a week away from my Men's Physique contest where I am competing on the Vancouver Pro Am Stage in the BCABBA 2016 BC Championships representing the Masters and Open divisions.

Today I hit chest and back and only have 3 more workouts to put in before I can relax a bit before my competition. Workouts this week will be moderate, more or less higher reps with lots of volume, I mainly want to get a good pump and make sure not to hurt myself in any way. My previous quad injury is feeling somewhat better but a rather nasty bruise has formed which tells me it was more then just a serious case of DOMS!

Today I also picked up some items I will be needing for show prep and show day, some exfoliating wash and my competition day snacks, if you have ever competed then you know how exciting the snacks are on competition day! It's really the only time when eating high sugar and fat junk food is OK :)

BC Championships - 8 Days Out - Updade and Posing

Just a hair over a week to go and I feel I am in close to the same shape I was in for my last Men's Physique contest which was the Victoria Cup. Granted I need to carb up and make sure my water is in check but in terms of body fat I feel I am around 5% or even a bit under. I still have a week of cutting to go so any remaining stubborn fat should be gone by then when I hit the Vancouver Pro Am Stage for my BCABBA 2016 BC Championships.

I even upped my calories a little bit as I felt I was losing weight too quickly and don't want to come in too depleted. The low carbs have been taking their toll on me being already so low in body fat, workouts have been a struggle and my energy in general is low through the day. It's a good thing this is a short term situation!

I have been training very smart making sure not to do anything that could get me injured but even so I somehow did something to my left quad, even at the time of my leg workout I did not feel any pain during or after, the effect of the injury snuck up on me the next day after my upper body workout that did not include any upper legs so how this came about so delayed is a mystery to me? The best way I can describe the pain is that it's like having DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) but like 5 times worse then the worst DOMS I have ever had! There is no specific soar spot on my qaud, the entire qaud is tender and tight and was a little swollen for a day or two. Four days after the pain kicked in I am still feeling it and my quad is still tender and tight. It has been getting progressively better so I hope by next week I will be able to train my quads at least a little. Good thing us Physique guys wear board shorts :)

BC Championships - 12 Days Out - Food Manipulation

Less than two weeks to go now and the carb cutting has stated. In this video I talk about how I manipulate my food over the last couple of weeks to help lose that last bit of body fat and also prep my body so it is in peek condition come time for my Men's Physique show at the Vancouver Pro AM. I also include a little extra video of me doing what I would consider to be my last session of Barbell Squats prior to contest day.

BC Championships - 16 Days Out - Posing Update

Some update posing video of me just a hair over 2 weeks out from the Vancouver Pro AM where I will be competing in Men's Physique Masters and Open divisions at the BCABBA BC Championships! I'm feeling pretty good actually and right on track, next week the hard dieting begins but it will only last a little while and in the end will all be worth it :)

BC Championships - 18 Days Out - Update Video

Only 18 more days to go till I compete in the BCABBA BC Championships at the Vancouver Pro Am in both Masters and Open Men's Physique classes.

This is really my last week of going hard in the gym and trying to overload my previous weeks workouts, next week the carb cutting begins so expectations in terms of energy and strength will not be as high. More or less I will be shooting to get as much volume as my energy will allow for! I will only have to perform low carb workouts for about a week and a half since the week leading up to my contest is really only a half week of workouts since I will stop all weight training about 3 days out from competition day.

In terms of my weight and body fat, I am perhaps even a bit ahead of schedule, I weigh about 190 pounds give or take a pound and my body fat is very close to 6%. I will drop a good point or more during my low carb low calorie eating plan since I will most likely be at a calorie deficit of close to 2000 calories per day for a good 10 days or more.

I really feel like I will be bringing my best conditioning to date to the the stage this time around!
