Daily Workout - MMA at World Class Martial Arts

I had a great workout at my local MMA gym, mostly we worked on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu transition moves. Learning how to go from different mount positions into what would be a better mount position. For example: going from a side mount (this is when my opponent is on their back and I have my weight over them but I am on a right angle to them) and then I transition to a full mount (this is when I have my full weight on my opponent with my legs above their hips in a stradle position)

After this we continued with more Brazilian Jiu Jitsu work with added striking and then in to some full on sparring in the last hour.

All in all it was a nice two hour workout that I will no doubt feel tomorrow.

Daily Workout - MMA and Total Gym Chest

I didn't make it to my morning Strength & Conditioning at my MMA Gym, but I did get to the one hour of technical training and then a second hour of sparring. Today we worked on BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) and then "rolled" it in to some more BJJ sparring which is actually referred to as "Rolling". Not really a lot of punching, it's more like wrestling but with chokes and submission moves like Arm Bars and Kimura's.

Since I didn't make the Strength & Conditioning class and I still had a bit of energy left in me, I quickly went home and did a 35 minute Chest workout on my Total Gym. I really noticed the lack of strength after doing two hours of MMA.

  • Muay Thai & MMA Technical Class: 1 hour.
  • Muay Thai & MMA Sparing Class: 1 hour.
  • Total Gym - Chest: 35 minutes.
  • Abs: Tortal Gym Side Twists.
  • Misc. Stretching

Daily Workout - MMA at World Class Martial Arts

Saturday is the day I usually go to my MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) class. I want to try and make it twice per week but find it hard to do and physically challenging as I usually need several days afterwards to recover!

It's a fantastic workout and I can easily burn 500-1000 calories per hour doing this while learning skills that may come in handy one day (Hopefully not). Today I stayed for the full three hours and will pay for it for the next few day no doubt?

On Saturdays we start off with an hour of miscellaneous strength and conditioning exercises, then we move on to a one hour session Muay Thai & MMA Technical class followed by one hour of Muay Thai & MMA Sparing.

My reward for this marathon of abuse was a trip to McDonalds. But before you get down on me, my entire McLunch was only about 750 calories or just a smidgen of what I burned off in class today. (McDouble, Jr. McChicken, and a Large Water)

We'll see how I feel tomorrow... And the day after... And the day after that... :(
