Road to the Vancouver Fall Classic 3 Months Out

I did mention a while back that I had plans for a show in the fall and so it begins or I should say it has already begun since I have been consistently training with this goal in mind since April doing my best to stay fairly lean while adding some extra muscle before the really hard prep begins. The show I am doing is called the Vancouver Fall Classic and it looks like Popeye's is the main sponsor with many other sponsors coming to the table so I expect it to be a really good show with a decent turn out. I will be entering Open Physique and perhaps a Masters Class of some sort. Classic Physique I am not sure about but I will consider it as I get closer to the show and see how I am looking, specifically if my legs are up to the challenge.

I am currently sitting at around 205 pounds and would say I am around 11-12% body fat so I need to lose around 10 pounds of fat and would like to be come in right around 195+ pounds before I carb up and fill back in for contest day.

Over the next month my focus will be to slightly cut fat with around a 500 calorie deficit per day which should put me on track to losing around 3-4 pounds of fat for the month, I hope to add an additional 2-3 pounds of muscle so my weight should not change all that much during the next month of prep.

Heading into 2 months out the plans will be to cut a bit harder while maintaining the muscle I have gained, maybe even gaining a pound or two if I'm lucky. I will be in closer to a 1000 calorie deficit during this time which should lead to around a 6-8 pounds of fat loss but everything will be adjusted based on how I look and how I feel.

The final month before the show will be all about getting every last bit of fat off of me which means around a 1500 calorie defect which in order to achieve means with a BMR of around 2100 I need to do at least 1500 calories of exercise each day while eating around 2000 calorie of food. I have done this many times and for me this works. With this calorie deficit I can lose as much as 3 pounds of fat per week but anyone that has done this before will understand that your body does not always cooperate and your metabolism can crash.

Well that's the plan for now but it can change at anytime depending on how I look and feel along the way.

Road to the Leigh Brandt Muscle Classic 2021 - Show Day

A bit late on getting this Leigh Brandt Muscle Classic 2021 video out but here it is...

The evening of Show Day I had planned on recording dinner but we went out with another couple and I felt it was best to not invade on their privacy. After dinner followed drinks at a friends followed by not feeling so great the next day (Sunday). The plan was to do my short recap on Monday but we had one of the worst rainfalls and storm in probably forever here in the Lower Mainland of BC Canada and so we had no power all day but at least we where fortunate to not get flooded out like many people did here in Fraser Valley.

Excuses aside now so how did it go? Well I got 3rd place out of 8 guys in Men's Open Physique which I felt was really great considering my super short 2 week prep and the fact that most of the guys as per usual where half my age. The top two looked fantastic and the number one guy got the overall prize so my competition was on their game.

In Men's Open Classic Physique I placed 4th out of 4 guys but as per usually I was down about 20 pounds on all of them and I would say the top two had both size and great conditioning so hard for a guy my size to complete with them. I do have to say I felt I had a bit of an edge on the 3rd place winner as I felt my conditioning was better and perhaps my overall shape was more conducive to Classic Physique but I will have to wait on the photos and videos to really get a better idea on that one...

I will be making another video on my overall impressions about the show and what my plans are for the future...

Road to the Leigh Brandt Muscle Classic 2021 - 1 Day Out

We are in the home stretch now with only 1 day out to the Leigh Brant Muscle Classic. Today I for the most part focus on eating and getting some much needed carbs into my body as it is severely depleted going into the show. I also checkin to my hotel and the athletes checkin and get my first coat of spray tan.

Usually I head out for a burger with fries for my "power meal" the evening before the show but today I wanted to keep it a bit cleaner and so I went for some sushi as I seem to be sticking to more of a rice menu for most of my carb intake this time around.

One more sleep and it's show time!

Road to the Leigh Brandt Muscle Classic 2021 - 2 Days Out

We are in the home stretch now with only a couple more days to go till I step on stage at the Leigh Brandt Muscle Classic! I wasn't sure if I was going to make it or not but the changes to my body this week have been drastic, every day I wake up and I can actually see and feel my skin is getting thinner and thinner. This will keep progressing right up till Saturday morning so I am super excited to see the final results!

This video is really just me going through my day and videoing some of it for you so enjoy!

Road to the Leigh Brandt Muscle Classic 2021 - 4 Days Out

On one hand I am super happy I am now only 4 Days Out from the Leigh Brandt Muscle Classic since I am pushing myself so hard and there is only so long I can keep it up before my body says nope we are done now :)

But on the other hand a bit more time may be needed to get into the shape I really want to be in for the show. I am hoping I am able to accomplish more than I think in these last few days of hard dieting and busy activity...

Right now it is all about eating as little as possible and being as active as I can. Yesterday I only ate around 1200 calories yet I burned close to 1700, combine that with a BMR (Base Metabolic Rate) of around 2000 and that puts me in about a 2500 calorie deficit. If I can keep that up Today, Wednesday and Thursday that will accommodate a 3 pounds of fat weight loss in 4 days. Friday will be carbup day!

My mind is for sure playing tricks on me especially since I am so depleted and flat that even though I lost weight the last couple of days I actually look less defined since I have zero muscle fullness right now. I have to keep this in mind as I will not have that muscle fullness again until I carb back up.
