CrossFit Style Upper Body Ladder Workout

Another CrossFit based workout for you, this one is based on using the "Ladder" format which means you start your set off with the highest number of reps (Usually 10)  and work your way down to 1 rep per set.

Here is an example of the Upper Body Ladder Style workout I did in this video:

  • For the first round I did 6 different exercises with 10 reps each.
  • For the second round I did 9 reps for each exercise and then 8,7,6,5,4,3,2 and lastly for my final round I finished off with 1 rep for each exercise. For a total of 55 reps per exercise and 330 reps in total.
  • I did the following exercises in each round - Dumbbell Press with 50 pounds in each hand, Wide grip pull-ups, Olympic dips, Sit-ups, Push-ups and Arm curls with 30 pounds in each hand.

I also show you how you can "scale" your workout to fit your level of fitness since not everyone can do a full push-up or pull-up ;)

This was a hard workout on my triceps since the Shoulder press, Olympic dips and Push-ups all hit my triceps hard. I did make it through with only a few small pauses and got pretty close to the 20 minute mark!

Get Fit Over 40 - Human Trainer Arms Workout

A couple more upper body Human Trainer Body Weight Suspension System workouts to go and then we will be moving on to some lower body routines. Today I show you some biceps and triceps exercises using the Human trainer. I was playing around with some alternative mounting locations and found that using a grounded location works well for my arms and shoulders but you can also hook into a higher position if need be, just angle your body a bit differently.

To get my lower mounting point I hooked into my smith machine rack using my Human Trainer Versatility Straps.

I am still struggling with my injuries but I am optimistic that I will recover, even if it is slower than I would like to, my Kanesiologist did make a radical adjustment to my ankle as apparently my shine was anchored too far forward and so I had very limited flexibility  which effects the knee and back. I am hoping this adjustment will really help with my knee pain and so far it does seem to be feeling better.

Arm Workout Using Dumbbells

Continuing along with my Upper Body Dumbbell Work Series, today I bring you my Dumbbell Arm workout video. Most of the exercises I show you I do in the seated position just to keep myself centered and on camera but you can also do them standing if you don't have a workout chair or even a regular chair that works for you.

A couple paris of Dumbbells are a great investment in your health and will last a lifetime, you can also start with a set that can be used for a variety of exercises and as you get stronger and get more divers in your workout routines, you can add to your dumbbell set over time.

Upper Body Workout Using Chairs

I know not everyone has workout gear at home and the truth is there are lots of items around your house that you can use to get a good workout, today I show you some exercises you can do using standard kitchen chairs.

I show you how you can do dips to get a great triceps and chest workout, I also show you how you can use chairs to get a deeper pushup and also an inclined pushup which will really work the chest area. I also demonstrate how you can use the weight of teh chairs for some shoulder exercises similar to using dumbbells.

I am at week seven now in my lose a few pounds program and I think I am starting to see some improvements again, I am down to right around 177 pounds but have definitely shed some pounds in the mid section, I can see more tone coming through now. The Jawbone UP and Fitbit scale have really helped me to stay on track with my exercises and food tracking.

Quick Dumbbell Upper Body Exercises

Today I get away a bit from the Total Gym and show you some of the exercises I do using Dumbbells all on their own without any benches or other equipment. I show you some shoulder, biceps, triceps and back exercises and even a revised pushup using dumbbells only.

Not too much to say in regards to my lose a few pounds, I seem to be staying pretty level but feel that I have lost a bit of weight in my waist area, will just have to keep plugging away at it...
